Awareness through Movement (Feldenkrais) 2

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
Group email: Awareness through Movement (Feldenkrais) 2 group
When: Weekly on Wednesday mornings 10:30 am-12:00 pm
a series of 6 weekly sessions
Venue: Heron Centre
Cost: £2.00 per person per session

Each session lasts for about an hour and has a focus such as walking, balance, sitting,  even breathing. It can be quite varied and there are a lot of lessons for each Movement, so if people wanted more on a topic, that is possible.

Sessions are in a series of 4-6 weeks, held at the Heron Centre.

The sessions are mostly done lying down, so people would need to bring a Yoga mat, a small blanket or large towel, something they feel comfortable to lie on the floor. One needs to dress warmly, as movements are not big, but wear ordinary clothes. Some sessions are done sitting on a chair, venue permitting.

The movements are small and not strenuous. The focus is on becoming aware of how we move and how one movement affects more of us than we realise, so that even something small can cause strain elsewhere: the classic thing of people's backs "going" when they bend down to tie a shoelace or reach for a can from the kitchen cupboard. Anyone can do the sessions at a level that suits them. Our group leader can adapt movements if someone feels they can't do something.
